In Lower Sackville about 40k from Halifax. Can’t believe we are already there - team 2 has just rolled in to base camp here. Team 3 will be a bit later. The first night we do not have to shuttle forward and can actually get a good night’s. I will have to do a longer update when I have access to the internet with my laptop. On our way to Ottawa tonight after a great but wet day of riding from Woodstock to Toronto with stops in Brantford, Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga and Toronto. We had Ride Along riders with us the whole way and by the end we were likely 150 strong. Our final destination was Sick Kids. My friend and supporter Richard Bowering met me at Oakville Place and fellow Friends for Life Bike Rally teammates Ken Allen and Phil Strong (yeah Carb ‘n Fibre) met me at Sherway Gardens and rode to SIck Kids. Of course my partner Kevin was at Sick Kids to greet us all. So good to see him and to feel a bit like I was at home. He has been a huge support through all this over the past months. Lately it has felt like a bit of a homecoming. Yesterday there was the stop in Stratford where many friends came out: Lisa, who rallied Sears support, Carolyn and the boys who have been so encouraging, Elizabeth who talked this projected up with friends and media, Caryn who donated and who updates me regularly on Stratford news and the Culliton Family - Tim, MJ and the boys. It was a very emotional experience for me as it really connected my past with my present on so many positive fronts. However what was really important was that Tim spoke about their family’s dealing with childhood cancer to everyone gathered there. Their store showed once again how important the funds raised by rides like this impact positively on the lives of kids and families dealing with cancer. Then it was on to London with a large Ride Along group. A tense ride as we took the busiest road at the busiest time of day - a road with very little shoulder and rough surface. But we made it all safe and sound. And in London I got to see Sydney and her moms Jen and Sara was well aa her uncle and her Grandmother Vivienne from Ottawa. Sydney is growing more and more and is full of character and sweetness. I want to thank again all the friends and family who have gotten behind this project and support me. Most importantly again it is about supporting these amazing kids and their families who have to face an uncertain future because of cancer. I will post some pictures but apologize for the orientation issues in advance. R. Sent wirelessly from my BlackBerry device on the Bell network. Okay all the days and locations are blurring together. It is 3:38 am and I just woke up as the rv pulled into a Tim Horton on our way to Owen Sound. Funny how distance and locations are getting distorted by the two means of travel - daytime by bike (slower ) and night travel by rv (faster). Thursday was the best day of cycling yet. Wawa to Souix St. Marie with rolling hills, incredible vistas, tail wind and not too hot. We rode very well as a group. Day started a little less rushed AND with a shower and coffee. Added Black Bear to our list of wild life on the side of the road. Later today we are on Stratford and then London where I will see friends and Sydney and her moms Jen and Sara. Time for a bit more shut-eye. Sent wirelessly from my BlackBerry device on the Bell network. Envoyé sans fil par mon terminal mobile BlackBerry sur le réseau de Bell.
